KeNHA announces partial closure of Waiyaki Way for one month

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a month-long partial closure of Waiyaki Way in Nairobi for highway maintenance. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes and follow traffic management plans until the work concludes on November 7.
Why it matters
Infrastructure maintenance is essential for road safety and longevity, though it causes significant temporary disruption to urban commuters.
Motorists using Waiyaki Way should prepare for traffic disruption after the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) announced a temporary partial closure of the Mombasa-bound lanes between Kempinski and Museum Hill Interchange.
The closure will take effect from Thursday, October 8, to Saturday, November 7, to allow for highway maintenance works along the section.
In a public notice dated October 1, KeNHA said motorists would continue using the sections that remain open and were advised to consider alternative routes to minimise delays.
The authority also urged drivers to follow the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals deployed at the site.
“Normal traffic operations on the road will be restored upon completion of the works,” the notice said.
