Kempton Park tops kidnapping crisis list!

Kempton Park is emerging as the province’s kidnapping hotspot after recording the highest number of cases between April and June 2026.

The alarming figures have prompted the Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Community Safety to demand an urgent, coordinated response from law enforcement agencies and government.

The revelation came during a high-level stakeholder engagement convened by the Committee on Friday, 18 September 2026, to examine the rising prevalence, causes and devastating impact of kidnapping across the province.

According to the latest crime statistics presented to the Committee, Kempton Park recorded 76 kidnapping cases between April and June 2026.

That is a sharp increase from 48 cases recorded during the same period in 2025 — up 58,3%.

The figures put Kempton Park at the top of Gauteng’s kidnapping hotspots for the quarter.
