Keerthana announces new industrial parks and accommodation for more than 2,500 SIPCOT workers
Tamil Nadu Industries Minister S. Keerthana announced plans for new industrial parks and residential facilities for over 2,500 SIPCOT workers. The initiative includes dedicated zones for e-vehicles, renewable energy, and textiles to boost investment and sustainable growth across the state.

The Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce Department will construct safe residential accommodation for more than 2,500 workers employed in the industrial units at the SIPCOT Industrial Park, Gangaikondan, under Phase II development. “The project, estimated at ₹130 crore, will be executed by Tamil Nadu Industrial Housing Private Limited (TNIHPL), a special purpose vehicle, with public and private participation,” Minister for Industries S. Keerthana said in the Assembly on Tuesday (August 25, 2026).
She also announced a slew of SIPCOT parks across the State. A new SIPCOT industrial park would come up at Mudivaithanendhal in Thoothukudi, on 2,570 acres, at an estimated cost of ₹1,390 crore. This park will house clean and renewable energy-based industries to support sustainable green growth in the southern districts, and is expected to attract ₹5,000 crore in investment.
