KBN University holds Foldscope workshop for students
Khaja Bandanawaz University organized a workshop to introduce students to the Foldscope, an affordable and portable microscope. The event provided hands-on training to help students explore the microscopic world and bridge the gap between theory and practice.
Why it matters
Promoting low-cost scientific tools can significantly improve access to hands-on STEM education in resource-constrained environments.
The Departments of Zoology and Botany, Faculty of Science, Khaja Bandanawaz University (KBN University), organised a workshop on “Foldscope: An Affordable Tool for Exploring the Microscopic World” on the university campus on Wednesday.
The workshop aimed to introduce students to Foldscope, an affordable and portable microscope, and provide them with hands-on experience in assembling, handling and using the device for microscopic observations.
KBN University Pro-Vice-Chancellor Syed Ashfaq Ahmed, addressing the gathering, highlighted the importance of encouraging scientific curiosity among students through exploration of the microscopic world and practical learning. He appreciated the initiative to introduce students to an affordable microscopy tool.
Sudarshan, the chief guest and resource person, delivered a special lecture on Foldscope, explaining its principles, applications and significance in exploring the microscopic world. Syed Abrar, assistant professor in the Department of Botany, chaired the session.
