Telangana Rakshana Sena chief K. Kavitha demanded that the State government book and arrest a police constable who made abusive and derogatory comments against her on social media, questioning the decision to merely suspend him.
Addressing the media on Sunday, she said suspension was not sufficient and sought criminal action against the constable. She said that the State DGP should not be lenient against such people, and the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act dealing with abusive and derogatory comments against women should be invoked.
“If a woman like me, who has been in public life for 20 years and has served as an MP and MLC and headed a political party, does not have protection, what security can ordinary women expect?” she asked.
