Karnataka to appeal against CWRC order to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu

Karnataka has decided to file an appeal before the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) against the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee’s (CWRC) order issued on Tuesday (July 28, 2026) to release water at a rate of 3,500 cusecs a day for 15 days to Tamil Nadu.
Disclosing this to media persons in New Delhi on Wednesday (July 29, 2026), Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar said preparations to file the appeal were going on. Already consultations had been held with the Advocate General of the State and legal experts as well as officials concerned, he noted.
