Karnataka: Land grants violating conditions to be cancelled
The Karnataka government has directed Deputy Commissioners to identify and cancel land grants or leases where conditions have been violated. Common violations include unauthorized land use, failure to renew leases, and non-payment of dues.

The government has asked Deputy Commissioners to submit proposals for cancelling grants or leases of land where the stipulated conditions have been violated, Deputy Chief Minister and Revenue Minister G. Parameshwar told the Legislative Council on Wednesday.
The Minister said the extent of government land in the State, excluding forest and agricultural land, is about 32.51 lakh acres.
The violations include using land for purposes other than those for which it was allotted, failure to renew leases after the expiry of their term, subletting of land, and non-payment of lease amounts, among others, he said in reply to a question from Congress member K. Shivakumar.
