Karnataka govt.’s Praja Seve to be expanded with launch of ‘Namma Seve’ app
The Karnataka government is expanding its 'Praja Seve' grievance redressal system with a new 'Namma Seve' mobile app. The initiative aims to digitize remaining offline services and uses AI to automatically route citizen applications to the correct departments.
Why it matters
This represents a significant effort in digital governance and administrative reform, aiming to improve service efficiency and accountability for citizens.
The Karnataka government will expand the scope of Praja Seve, launched on September 5 to redress people’s grievances, by introducing the ‘Namma Seve’ app and bringing the remaining offline services online. The new app, which is expected to be launched before October 2, can also be used by citizens to flag issues such as garbage accumulation and potholes.
Currently, 2,300 of the 2,456 services offered by the government can be accessed online. Of the total 2,456 services, 890 are covered under the Sakala scheme, which is backed by a legislation.
