Karnataka Chief Minister has credible information on ‘sting operation’: Deputy CM

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara confirmed that the Chief Minister's claims regarding an alleged 'sting operation' by the Opposition are based on intelligence reports. The state government is facing political pressure as the Opposition demands the disclosure of evidence.
Why it matters
This reflects ongoing political instability and partisan conflict within the Karnataka state government.
Amid the claims of Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar that “sting operations” were attempted on him and some of his ministerial colleagues by the Opposition, Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara said on Friday that the charge was made based on information received from the intelligence.
Asked if the allegation had been brought up to divert attention from the drought, the Deputy Chief Minister told presspersons: We have not ignored any problem and the drought issue has been taken seriously.”
On investigation into the alleged sting operation, Mr. Parameshwara said that the Chief Minister will speak on that. “The Chief Minister knows everything and he has shared as much information as required with us.”
Congress legislator from Mandya Ganija Ravikumar also defended the Chief Minister’s claim, and said that they had proof on the sting operation.
