Members across party lines in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday paid tribute to former Minister and BJP leader B.C. Nagesh, recalling his contribution to the education sector, particularly the construction of 8,200 classrooms in government schools under the Viveka school infrastructure scheme, named after Swami Vivekananda.
Speaker G.S. Patil moved the obituary reference and recalled Nagesh’s simple lifestyle and down-to-earth attitude during his tenure as a Minister in the Basavaraj Bommai-led government.
Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly R. Ashok highlighted the two-time MLA’s contribution to bringing discipline among school students. Health and Family Welfare Minister U.T. Khader noted that Nagesh had sanctioned classrooms for the constituencies of legislators across party lines.
