BENGALURU: A retired Indian Army veteran who served in the 1999 Kargil War allegedly attempted suicide after he was reportedly prevented from meeting Karnataka deputy chief minister G Parameshwara to plead for a land grant that has remained pending for more than 24 years.Naik (Retd.) Shivananda Reddy, who was attached to the Indian Army's Maratha Light Infantry and was injured during the Kargil War, is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital, sources said.The incident allegedly occurred on August 29 when Reddy attempted to meet Parameshwara and seek his intervention in securing the land promised to him by the government.
