Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrated in Belagavi
The Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre in Belagavi celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas with a wreath-laying ceremony to honor soldiers who died in the 1999 conflict. Additionally, an MP in Davangere released a book detailing the war to be distributed to local schools.

Officers and personnel of the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre celebrated the Kargil Vijay Diwas in Belagavi on Sunday (July 26).
Brigadier Girish Upadhya, Commandant, MLIRC, and other officers inaugurated the event through a wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial. They also paid homage to the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice during the Kargil War of 1999.
Wreaths were also laid by Sandeep Khot, Centre Subedar Major and Agniveer Vivek Khedekar, symbolising the Regiment’s enduring legacy of valour and the seamless passing of the spirit of service from one generation of soldiers to the next.
The ceremony honoured their unparalleled courage, unwavering dedication and selfless service, which ensured India’s victory in one of the most challenging high-altitude conflicts in military history.
