A police constable attached to the Karaikudi North Police Station has been suspended for allegedly harbouring suspects involved in the attack on a Malaysian tourist family near Coimbatore.
The incident occurred on September 2 when Loganathan (52), a Malaysian businessman visiting India with his wife, son and 10 relatives, was travelling towards Coimbatore in a van after a tour of Kerala.
Near Navakkarai, two unidentified persons intercepted them, slashed Loganathan and his son Yugendran with sickles, threatened them at gunpoint and fled in a car.
The K.G. Chavadi police registered a case and subsequently arrested three suspects — Akash and Krishnamoorthy from Manamadurai in Sivaganga district, along with car driver Vishwa.
