A large number of public, including relatives and family members of the two children - Niraimathi (10) and her brother Bala Praveen (5), who were electrocuted two days ago, staged a road blockade for over two hours on Thursday.

As a result, police had a tough time and had to divert vehicles which had piled up on the Kamudi-Madurai road for the second day.

It is said that the two children, who were playing near the Achankulam panchayat office, died after they came in contact with a live electrical wire. The bodies were sent for post-mortem. However, the parents - Mohandas and Latha - refused to accept the bodies and demanded action against the panchayat officials for their negligence.
