Kalyana Karnataka: Private school federation seeks government support for unaided institutions; protest on September 9

Members of the Kalyana Karnataka Division Private Educational Institutions’ Managements Federation have decided to stage an indefinite protest from Wednesday (September 9), demanding that the State government and the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB) extend financial and infrastructural support to unaided private educational institutions in the region.

Federation president Sunilkumar R. Hudgi, addressing a press conference in Kalaburagi on Sunday (September 6), said private educational institutions in Kalyana Karnataka were providing quality education despite facing several challenges and financial constraints. The government should extend the benefits available to government and aided schools to unaided private schools as well, he said.

Mr. Hudgi demanded that unaided private educational institutions in Kalyana Karnataka be provided assistance under Article 371J on the lines of the Vidarbha model. He also sought financial assistance from the KKRDB for schools established after 1995 and demanded that such institutions be brought under the grant-in-aid system.
