A 29-year-old kabaddi player died after getting caught in an electric fence set up illegally in a coconut grove near Thiruppachethi. Police arrested the owner of the grove in connection with this.
Police said the victim, R. Muthusangu, 29, a resident of Thiruppachethi in Sivaganga district, was a kabaddi player and worked as a daily wage labourer. On Sunday morning, he went to a nearby coconut grove to answer nature’s call.
At that time, he stepped on an illegal electric fence that had been set up to prevent wild boar from entering the field. He was electrocuted and died on the spot.
