JOHANNESBURG - Criminal investigations against disgraced former top cop Shadrack Sibiya are unlikely to come to a halt.
This is the view of the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Police, Ian Cameron, as he reacts to the resignation of the now-former Deputy National Police Commissioner.
According to Cameron, allegations against Sibiya that have emerged both at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry and the Ad Hoc Committee are far-reaching and point to what he calls ‘a desperate need for further criminal investigations'.
“This is just the start of the momentum. The problem with Mr Sibiya is that the can of worms that has been opened around him, and him playing such a central figure kind of role throughout this whole ordeal, makes it very difficult to get away from," he said.
