Barcelona defender Jules Kounde made history as the Frenchman with the most appearances for the club during a 3-0 victory over Getafe. Kounde expressed satisfaction with his physical and mental form as he works to secure a regular starting position.
Why it matters
It tracks the career progression of a high-profile athlete and the internal dynamics of a major European football club.
Jules Kounde was back in the starting XI for Barcelona on Saturday night and enjoyed a memorable evening for the Catalan giants in a 3-0 win over Getafe.
The defender's appearance put him into the record books at the Camp Nou as the Frenchman with the most appearances for the club. He's now played more times for Barca than Eric Abidal, Ousmane Dembele and Clement Lenglet.
There was also a goal for the defender to celebrate as well. Kounde grabbed Barcelona's third of the night after earlier fluffing a good opportunity to get on the scoresheet.
Still, he came off admitting he's felling good and doing his best to force his way back into the XI on a regular basis.
"I feel good physically and mentally too. I'm working hard to get my position and my level back and help out. I feel good in every way," he said.
