NEW DELHI: SC judge Ujjal Bhuyan has questioned opacity in the collegium’s decisions on judicial appointments.“I have noticed that the last three collegium resolutions contain no reasons whatsoever. Is this a step back from the principle of transparency?” said Justice Bhuyan at a panel discussion on Saturday. “By withholding reasons, we also create space for individuals to enter the judiciary who may later describe groups of people as ‘ants’ and make other remarks that are wholly unconstitutional,” he said.Citizens have right to know deliberations on elevation, transfer of judges: BhuyanTo prevent the entry of such people, “there should be some discussion, there should be some reasons given”, said Justice Ujjal Bhuyan.
