JSP MP seeks Income Tax Appellate Tribunal Bench in Amaravati
Jana Sena Party MP Lingamaneni Ramesh has requested the Union Law Ministry to establish an Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) bench in Amaravati. He argues that the current setup requires taxpayers to travel long distances to Visakhapatnam or Hyderabad.

Jana Sena Party MP Lingamaneni Ramesh has written to Union Minister for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal requesting the establishment of a Bench of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) in Amaravati and the inclusion of Guntur, Krishna, Anantapur, Chittoor, Cuddapah, Kurnool, Nellore and Prakasam districts under its jurisdiction.
At present, the ITAT has a Bench in Visakhapatnam serving Andhra Pradesh, with jurisdiction over the undivided East Godavari, Guntur, Krishna, Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and West Godavari districts. Mr. Ramesh said the existing arrangement had its origins in the territorial jurisdiction of the erstwhile unified State of Andhra Pradesh and had continued after bifurcation.
