NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court of Monday issued a notice to Centre and the state government over a plea seeking independent, time-bound CBI probe into alleged malpractices in the Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Preliminary Examination.A bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant and comprising Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana sought responses from the respondents. Senior advocate Manan Kumar Mishra, appearing for petitioner Harisharan Devgan, said the plea sought either a CBI inquiry or an investigation by a former Supreme Court judge.The petition, filed under Article 32 of the Constitution, raised concerns over the “integrity, fairness, transparency and credibility” of the Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Preliminary Competitive Examination 2025, conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission on April 19, 2026, pursuant to Advertisement No. 01/2026.
