PETALING JAYA: All schools in Johor will be closed for two days from tomorrow because of the haze and deteriorating air quality across the state.
Johor education and information committee chairman Dr Naqib Ghazali said the decision was made on the orders of Johor regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim to safeguard students’ health and safety.
Naqib said home-based teaching and learning would be implemented to ensure lessons could continue.
Schools involved in the Year Four Learning Matrix or any assessments will have the activities postponed and rescheduled, subject to directives by the Johor education department and other authorities.
“The state government understands that this decision may affect the arrangements of parents and guardians who still need to work.
