The health of iconic Australian singer John Farnham has deteriorated in recent months, according to a statement from his family.
Farnham, who had a decorated solo career as well as a period fronting Little River Band in the early 80s, has battled oral cancer and underwent extensive surgery on an aggressive tumour in 2022.
A tribute concert at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena is planned for this weekend but Farnham’s health will prevent him from attending.
“John’s health has deteriorated in recent months. He now requires continuous oxygen support and uses a wheelchair for mobility.
“It has also become necessary for John to receive 24-hour nursing care at home, ensuring trained support is always available when he needs it,” read a statement on son Rob Farnham’s social media.
