JNTU-A replaces LPG with electric cooking in hostels, signs MoU with APSECM
JNTU-Anantapur has signed an agreement with the A.P. State Energy Conservation Mission to replace LPG cooking in university hostels with electric equipment. The initiative aims to improve energy efficiency, reduce pollution, and promote sustainable cooking practices.

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Anantapur (JNTU-A) signed an MoU with the A.P. State Energy Conservation Mission (APSECM) for use of electric cooking equipment in the University’s hostels as an alternative to LPG.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. H. Sudarsana Rao said the MoU was signed for supply, installation, and use of electric cooking equipment in the university’s hostels.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor said that given the large number of students served daily at JNTU-A hostels, it was decided to implement electric cooking as an alternative to the traditional LPG-based method. This would reduce LPG consumption while enhancing energy efficiency, he added.
Usage of electric cooking minimises smoke, pollution, and excessive heat in kitchens and creates a cleaner and safer cooking environment. “This initiative would contribute to energy conservation, operational efficiency, and environmental protection,” he said.
