Jio, Airtel, BSNL urged to expand network, internet services in Chintoor agency

The Chintoor ITDA has requested major telecom providers like Jio, Airtel, and BSNL to expand their network coverage into interior tribal areas. The initiative aims to provide essential digital access to education, banking, and government services for local communities.
Why it matters
Expanding digital infrastructure is critical for bridging the rural-urban divide and improving socio-economic outcomes in tribal regions.
Chintoor Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) Project Officer Subham Nokwal on Tuesday assured support to telecommunication companies, including Jio, Airtel and BSNL, to facilitate the provision of their services in the interior areas of Chintoor agency in Polavaram district.
In an interaction with the representatives of Jio, Airtel and BSNL companies, Mr. Subham Nokwal informed them that due to the absence of telecommunication network and internet services in the agency areas, tribals were unable to access services, including education, banking, medical and health and online government services.
