Jeyakanthan assumes charge as Alagappa University V-C Officiating Professor

Professor J. Jeyakanthan has officially assumed the role of Vice-Chancellor Officiating Professor at Alagappa University. He brings over three decades of research and administrative experience to the position.

J. Jeyakanthan, Senior Professor and Head of the Department of Bioinformatics and Member Syndicate of Alagappa University, assumed charge as the Vice-Chancellor Officiating Professor of Alagappa University on August 24.
Mr. Jeyakanthan has over three decades of research experience, including 16 years of teaching and administrative service at Alagappa University.
Before joining the university, he worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, and as a researcher at RIKEN’s Spring-8 research laboratory in Japan.
Under his leadership, the Department of Bioinformatics, Alagappa University has received substantial external funding to the tune of ₹2,555.86 lakh from various extra mural agencies for strengthening its infrastructure and research activities.
The department has produced more than 800 research publications, with over 14,000 citations, and has contributed to the development of several doctoral researchers.
