Jessica Pegula is finally closing in on a return to the WTA Tour at the Wuhan Open, having not played since the US Open.
Pegula reached the semifinals of the US Open , where she was beaten by Aryna Sabalenka, who then lost the final to Elena Rybakina. The American decided to take a lengthy break afterwards, opting to withdraw from the China Open.
But Pegula is now back in WTA action at the Wuhan Open , which gets underway on Monday. She is the second seed at the WTA 1000 tournament, and starts out in the second round against the winner of the first round match between Daria Kasatkina and Jelena Ostapenko.
