Jessica Pegula has shared her disappointment at withdrawing from the Singapore Open later this month.

Amid the absence of Elena Rybakina and Aryna Sabalenka, Pegula was set to be the top seed at the WTA 500 tournament.

But the world number three has opted against taking part, with the American now explaining her reasons on social media.

Posting on her Instagram story , Pegula wrote: "I'm really disappointed to have to withdraw from Singapore.

"After a long and physically demanding few weeks at the US Open, I'm just not quite ready to get back on court and compete at the level I expect from myself. I was really looking forward to playing in Singapore and hope I can come back in the future."
