Jarell Quansah SENT OFF for England as wild tackle triggers touchline brawl

Jarell Quansah was sent off following a VAR review for a high challenge in England's World Cup Round of 16 clash with Mexico . The young defender slid in to a challenge to win the ball in the opening minutes of the second half but replays showed his foot was high when it caught Jesus Gallardo, who was left down on the turf. The Mexico bench reacted furiously to the challenge with Alan Shearer, commentating for the BBC , saying punches were thrown as both benches clashed. Referee Alireza Faghani let play continue but, after being advised to review the challenge by VAR, decided Quansah's challenge warranted a straight red card. England were 2-1 up at the time and managed to extend shortly after Quansah's dismissal from the penalty spot courtesy of Harry Kane . And although Raul Jimenez scored a spot-kick of his own to set up a grandstand finale, England stood firm to book their spot in the quarter-finals, where they will play Norway . Quansah was deputising at right-back, a position which has been a headache for Thomas Tuchel even before the tournament began with injury forcing Tino Livramento to withdraw from the squad. A hamstring injury kept Reece James out of England's win over DR Congo as well as the Round of 16 clash with Mexico.
