Jammu and Kashmir LoP meets Union Home Minister a day after introduction of Statehood resolution

BJP leader Sunil Sharma , who is the Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Saturday (September 26, 2026), a day after J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah introduced a resolution on the restoration of Statehood in the Union Territory’s legislature.

A BJP spokesman said Mr. Sharma apprised the Union Home Minister of matters “related to the prevailing security situation, law and order, development initiatives, public concerns, and matters related to the ongoing session of the J&K Legislative Assembly”.

“Mr. Sharma highlighted the key concerns being raised by the people of J&K and discussed matters requiring continued attention, coordination, and support from the Union government,” the BJP spokesman said.
