Steven Knight, the Peaky Blinders creator, refused to deny that the actor who will play the fictional British spy has been decided on after a five-year wait.

Knight was tasked with writing the new 007 script after Amazon MGM took control of the franchise from Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson, its longtime custodians.
