British singer James Blunt has responded to online speculation linking him to an unsettling encounter actor Hayden Panettiere had aboard a yacht when she was 18.
In her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning , Panettiere recalled an incident involving an “undressed” and “very famous” musician aboard a luxury yacht after a party.
Some social media users then speculated Blunt was the unnamed man, pointing to photographs of the pair together at a charity event in Cannes in 2009.
However, journalist Dean Piper, who was at and reported on the event, argued that the timeline ruled out Blunt.
“Guys, it only takes the smallest of AI searches to find out that in May 2009, when the pictures of Blunt and Panettiere were taken, she was 19, almost 20,” he wrote in an article titled “Hayden Panettiere and James Blunt – an internet lynching” .
