Jalen Hurts gives $600,000 to Philadelphia’s largest high school

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has pledged $600,000 to install air conditioning units at Northeast High School, expanding his ongoing effort to help keep local students in classrooms during periods of extreme heat. The donation is aimed at the city's largest public high school, which serves more than 3,300 students. According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, the money will pay for the purchase and installation of commercial-grade cooling units to help control temperatures across the large campus. For years, extreme heat in early autumn and late spring has forced the School District of Philadelphia to dismiss students early or cancel classes because of poor climate control in older school buildings.
