Former Local Administration Minister K.T. Jaleel has warned Public Works department Minister P.K. Basheer against continuing as manager of EMEA College of Arts and Science and EMEA Higher Secondary School at Kondotty amid allegations that the institutions charge large sums for management-quota admissions and appointments.
In a Facebook post, Mr. Jaleel said it was improper for a State Minister to head institutions facing allegations of taking money for admissions and appointments. He called on Mr. Basheer to resign as manager and hand over the position to someone other than his younger brother.
Mr. Jaleel also claimed that local committees of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) had raised complaints against Mr. Basheer in his capacity as manager. He warned that Mr. Basheer could become the first “wicket” to fall from the United Democratic Front (UDF) government if he continued to hold both positions.
