Jakarta airport suspends flights due to Mount Anak Krakatau ash; SIA flights affected

Delayed or cancelled international flights on Sunday (Sep 6) include some to or from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Doha, according to the airport's website.

JAKARTA: Indonesia's Soekarno-Hatta international airport has extended its suspension of flight operations until 9.30pm (10.30pm, Singapore time) on Sunday (Sep 6) due to volcanic ash from the ongoing eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau.
Mount Anak Krakatau erupted on Saturday, producing a fountain of lava and booming sounds that could be heard up to a few hundred kilometres away, the geology agency said in a statement.
Two new eruptions were recorded on Sunday.
