An official of the State government’s Survey, Settlement, and Land Records Department, who had been arrested by the Lokayukta police and remanded in judicial custody, was found undergoing treatment at the Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS), allegedly without a legitimate medical reason for hospitalisation.

Mohammed Hussain, Assistant Director of Land Records, Srirangapatna — arrested for alleged forgery of government land records — was found in a separate ward of the hospital with a woman. The surprise inspection of MIMS on Monday was conducted by Mandya District and Sessions Judge C. Chandrashekar and Member Secretary of the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority Shashidhar Shetty.
