JACKSON, Tenn. (WBBJ) - Nuclear energy is expanding across Tennessee and leaders say West Tennessee could play a role in that growth.
Jackson State Community College hosted the West Tennessee Nuclear Summit Wednesday, bringing together industry and education leaders to discuss the workforce needed to support the industry.
Officials say that workforce goes beyond nuclear engineers. They say there will be a need for electricians, welders, pipefitters, crane operators, truck drivers, diesel mechanics, logistics workers and more.
