Trainer Pesi Shroff’s colt Jaandaar, ridden by Vivek G, won the Villoo C. Poonawalla Pune Derby (Gr. 1), the stellar attraction of Sunday’s (Oct. 11) races.
The winner is owned by Mr. & Mrs. Vijay B. Shirke & Mr. Jay V. Shirke rep. Horse Haven Breeding and Racing Pvt. Ltd.
Vivek settled Jaandaar (Earthlight–Dance Awhile) in fourth position and bided his time as the field approached the home straight. Once into the straight, Jaandaar displayed an impressive turn of foot and surged into contention.
