Senior civil servant J. Radhakrishnan has been appointed chairperson of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC).

At present, he is Additional Chief Secretary/Director General of Training at the Anna Administrative Staff College . Immediately prior to this post, he had been the head of the State power utilities. He will hold the post of the TNERC chief for five years.

Mr. Radhakrishnan’s appointment was based on the recommendation of the three-member selection committee, which was headed by former judge of the Madras High Court, Justice (retired) RMT. Teekaa Raman. The panel met on September 15.

The post of the Commission’s chief has become vacant following the resignation of R. Manivannan a few months ago. Mr Radhakrishnan is due for superannuation at the end of this month.
