PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has successfully undergone a pacemaker implantation procedure at the National Heart Institute (IJN) to treat an abnormal heart rhythm.
IJN said the procedure was carried out this afternoon, and Ismail had since been advised to rest following the operation. Visits would be limited to close family members.
The former prime minister was admitted to IJN yesterday after experiencing heart problems while giving a statement to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission in an investigation into the expenditure and funding of the Keluarga Malaysia initiative in 2021-2022.
His lawyer, Amer Hamzah Arshad, said Ismail had become dizzy during questioning.
