Irish TDs to visit Dubliner in German prison charged with damaging Israeli-owned arms factory

A GROUP OF seven Irish politicians have travelled to Germany to attend the trial of an Irish man and four other pro-Palestinian activists charged with causing about €1 million worth of damage at the factory of an Israeli-owned defence company.
People Before Profit TD Richard Boyd Barrett and Sinn Féin TD Mairéad Farrell met 32-year-old Dubliner Daniel Tatlow-Devally in prison today ahead of the next session of his trial in Stuttgart on Wednesday.
Speaking to The Journal , Farrell said they had just left the prison in Ulm after a meeting with Tatlow-Devally that was organised by the Irish consulate.
She described the circumstances of the meeting as “unusual and quite prohibitive” because they were not allowed to discuss the trial.
She also said it was “deeply concerning to see the conditions in which he’s being kept”, describing how he spends 23 hours a day in a five-by-two-metre cell.
