Iran will pay for killing US troops ‘many times over’, warns Donald Trump

President Donald Trump has vowed that Iran will face severe consequences following the deaths of three US service personnel in recent attacks. The situation has escalated with retaliatory strikes and a naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, raising concerns about global energy supplies.
Why it matters
The escalating conflict between the US and Iran threatens regional stability and global energy markets, potentially leading to a broader military confrontation.
Iran will pay for the killing of US troops "many times over", Donald Trump has said following the deaths of three service personnel in recent days.
The president issued the warning after the American military launched a further wave of strikes, sparking retaliatory attacks by Tehran.
The ongoing clashes and the collapse of the interim ceasefire deal have fuelled fears of a return to a full-blown conflict.
US Central Command said two soldiers were killed in Jordan on Friday while defending against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks.
It was subsequently announced a service member had died in Iraq during the "controlled detonation" of a downed Iranian drone.
Some 17 US troops have been killed since the start of the war.
Writing on his Truth Social platform, Trump said: "Every time Iran kills an American Soldier they will pay for that killing many times over!"
