Iran blacklists 45 tankers over Strait of Hormuz rules amid fresh US sanctions threat

Iran has blacklisted 45 tankers for allegedly violating its rules for crossing the Strait of Hormuz and warned that vessels conducting ship-to-ship transfers with them could also face action, escalating tensions over the key waterway nearly six months into the war.The Persian Gulf Strait Authority, a new body set up by Iran to manage the strait, said in an X post late on Sunday that the vessels could be fined, detained and have their cargoes confiscated.The list includes very large crude carriers, liquefied natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas tankers, and clean product vessels. Some are owned by the UAE's ADNOC Logistics and Shipping (ADNOC L&S), ADNOC subsidiary Navig8 Tankers and Saudi Arabia's national shipping carrier Bahri.
