The targets included Iranian tankers, a U.S. official told Fox News.
Tuesday's strikes are part of a larger effort to squeeze Iran economically, the official said, with the targets including Iranian crude oil tankers that U.S. forces sought to sink or disable.
The Iranian economy relies heavily on crude oil exports, the official said, adding that the strikes targeting Iranian tankers are "part of that pressure campaign."
