IPOA condemns attacksand killings of police officers, calls for public support

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has condemned a series of attacks and killings targeting National Police Service officers across Kenya.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, IPOA chairperson Dr Duncan Ojuang Oburu said the deaths of officers in the line of duty were devastating and could undermine safety and public confidence in policing.

IPOA said it remained committed to promoting understanding and good relations between police officers and citizens through efforts aimed at building trust and ensuring public safety.

The oversight authority extended condolences to the families and friends of officers who lost their lives while maintaining order and safety in September.

Among those named were Chief Inspector Adan Isaak Somo and Constable Weblet Tabet, who were attached to the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU).
