Why it matters
These hardware updates represent Apple's continued push into advanced semiconductor manufacturing and camera technology to maintain its premium market position.
Apple could be changing its usual iPhone launch routine this year.
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to arrive in September 2026, while the standard iPhone 18 is reportedly being pushed to early 2027.
The split launch has been reported for months, but recent comments from Apple supplier Pegatron have added weight to the timeline. Apple itself has not announced the 2026 iPhone launch schedule.
The Pro models are also expected to bring several hardware changes, including a new processor, camera upgrades and a smaller Dynamic Island.
The iPhone 18 Pro models are expected to use Apple's next-generation A20 Pro chip.
Reports suggest the processor could be built using TSMC's first-generation 2nm process, moving on from the 3nm technology used for the A19 Pro.
