The International Olympic Committee has signed off on rowing and canoe sprint events to be hosted in Rockhampton for the 2032 Games.
World Rowing and Paddle Worldwide have also endorsed the independent technical assessment.
The state government will now move forward with detailed planning, design and construction of the Rockhampton site.

After months of fierce debate, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has approved rowing and canoe sprint events on Rockhampton's Fitzroy River for the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The central Queensland river will host the events despite concerns over its suitability, including its crocodile inhabitants .
Premier David Crisafulli said the doubters had been proven wrong with today's announcement.
"The IOC assessment for the site is complete," Mr Crisafulli said.
