International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances: at least 46 journalists are victims worldwide today

Searching for signs of life from these journalists involves investigations across 22 countries and four continents, including Mexico, Burundi, Palestine and Burkina Faso. Some have not been seen for 40 years. Abducted by states or with state complicity, a growing number of media professionals are disappearing in this way, according to data from Reporters Without Borders (RSF). On the occasion of the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, on 30 August, the organisation is sounding the alarm over this scourge.
