International Day of Democracy observed

Channareddy Patil Tunnur, MLA, said that India’s unique democratic system stands on a strong foundation of harmony and built upon equality, liberty, and fraternity.

​He was speaking on the occasion of the International Day of Democracy and at the taluk and district-level Youth Parliament Competition at the District Administrative Auditorium in Yadgir on Tuesday.

Mr. Tunnur said the United Nations and other international bodies declared International Day of Democracy to uphold democratic values, protect human rights, and promote peace, development, and stability globally. He noted that ideals such as fraternity are central to the Preamble of the Constitution of India. “Every citizen celebrating this day should spread the core democratic values of liberty, equality, and fraternity to the entire world,” he added.
