Instant Software Factories
A new open-source project called 'Instant Software Factories' allows developers to automate repository maintenance using Claude Code. The system uses autonomous agents to handle CI workflows, branch protection, and routine updates while maintaining human oversight for code approvals.
Why it matters
This represents a shift toward autonomous software engineering, where AI agents manage the operational overhead of codebases, potentially increasing developer productivity.
Add an autonomous software factory that keeps improving your project. You need two ingredients:
This repository contains the prompt to set it up through Claude Code using cloud routines. BOOTSTRAP.md defines the agents' responsibilities and operating limits. The setup agent chooses the process, models, and schedules to fit your project.
Open Claude Code in the repository you want the factory to work on and paste:
Set up an Instant Software Factory on this repo: clone https://github.com/mikolalysenko/instant-factory into a temp folder and follow its BOOTSTRAP.md For a local setup session in an isolated environment, you can optionally launch claude --dangerously-skip-permissions to skip permission prompts. The flag is not required by this bootstrap and does not configure the cloud routines' permissions. See Claude's permission guidance .
